Over the weekend Sam had a wrestling tournament in Mapleton. It was his very first wrestling match ever. He did such a great job.
We were running a little late as usual. Thank goodness Jeremy & Jeanna were there to take care of us. They got Sam signed in and let us know what mat number and every thing. As soon as we pulled up Ryan and Sam booked it into the gym because they were waiting for Sam to wrestle. When they got there the first kid he was suppose to wrestle wasn't there yet so they waited about 15 minutes and just gave the match to Sam. When they called Sam for his second match the kid standing there on the mat that he was going to wrestle was a kid in his class at school. It was crazy. Sam ended up winning 11 to 1. He did so good. His next match he wrestled a kid that goes to our club that he practices with and Sam ended up pinning him. His last match he wrestled a kid that was quite a bit bigger but he did a great job Sam only lost 6 to 5 and he was up some of the match. So in the end Sam ended up taking 2nd Place. Which is so good for someone who had never wrestled a match before.
It was so cute Ryan took Sam in for his very first weigh-in the night before, and he had to strip down to his undies and he weighed 43 lbs. His weigh class for the tournament was 46-50.
It is so different being the mom of a wrestler than the sister. I mean I always got nervous for my brothers when they wrestled but it is definitely different. It was a new experience for Ryan too, he has never been to a wrestling tournament ever other than state wrestles. He had such a great time and thought it was a fun atmosphere.
Good job Sammy we are proud of you.

I heard you did great Sammy. Keep it up!! You are however 1/2 wrestler (the beckstrom 1/2) It's fun to learn. Hopefully we'll see ya on the mat again soon.
How fun for you to have a little wrestler! Like he had a choice! haha! Isn't it wierd having kids old enough to be doing stuff like this? I can't wait til Jonah's old enough, I've always loved the wrestles! Have fun!
That's awesome Sam!!! Good job. Ryan wrestled a few years ago. It's kinda fun watching them. Ryan now just likes football and basketball and baseball. Same with Takota. I guess they'll just have to keep wrestling their dad. Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving!!!
Love, the Bean's
Did you ever really get out of wrestling? I think that the Beckstrom family has always had a wrestler. That is really cute that he did such a good job. It is weird to think that you have a child old enough to do that.
